Israeli Aerostat SkyStar 180 Will Be Operating During COP21 in Paris

skystar 180 (1)As part of the preparation to COP21, the Paris municipal police will operate for the first time an aerostat system – the SkyStar 180, produced by the Israeli company RT LTA. COP21 is the largest business focused event held during the annual Conference of Parties (COP), taking place this year on 7- 8 December at Stade de France in Paris.

The SkyStar 180 is a small sized, mobile aerostat designed for tactical mid-range surveillance and public safety, police and military applications. It operates continuously for up to 72 hours in different weather conditions, providing surveillance coverage from an altitude of up to 1,000 ft., Only 2 people are required to fully maintain the system.

The system that will operate in Paris is equipped with Controp’s TR-Stamp surveillance payload.

The Skystar 180 aerostat is used for intelligence purposes in more than 10 countries. It is continuously operational in the IDF and the Israeli police, as well as securing civil events in Israel, USA and Europe, such as state visits, concerts and multiplayer events.

The activity in Paris is done jointly by RT LTA and the French company Group SSI. During the past week, a team of the Paris police had training sessions on the SkyStar 180, and it will become operational in Paris several days before the event.
