Iran is currently exhibiting its self-manufactured long-range attack drone Mohajer-10 at the ARMY 2024 International Military-Technical Forum exhibition in Russia. This is reportedly the first time the Mohajer-10 was publicly displayed outside of Iran, which is claimed to be the most advanced Iranian-produced UAV as of late.
The exhibit, which will run until August 14th, also contains Iranian air defense systems and radars, ballistic missiles, and batteries for military applications, according to Interesting Engineering.
Iranian news outlets report that the Mohajer-10 UAV (translation – Immigrant-10), which was first unveiled in August 2023, has a range of 2,000 km, and has a single-flight duration of up to 24 hours. Further, It can carry a payload of up to 300 kg, a significant advancement from previous models.
In terms of uses, this UAV can be used for both non-lethal missions such as reconnaissance operations, as well as lethal attacks. It strikes by dropping bombs or missiles at its intended target and then is capable of returning back home, taking advantage of its impressive flight duration. This is unlike the Iranian-made Shahed UAVs, which are suicide UAVs made to explode when hitting a target. The exact levels of impact the Mohajer 10 can accomplish are yet to be completely known.
The showcasing of the Mohajer-10 UAV comes at an interesting timing in relation to the recent threats made by Iran to attack Israel in response to Israel’s alleged assassination of Hamas Leader Ismail Haniya on Iranian soil on July 31st. The exhibition in Russia also raises concerns for Ukraine, as Iran has been criticized in the past for supplying weapons to Russia to be used in its war with Ukraine, including the earlier Mohajer-6 variant. Iran continues to deny these claims, despite Ukraine revealing they captured this Iranian-made UAV after being used by Russian Forces.
