IMI Expands Its Presence in US Commercial Market

IMI systems’ Small Caliber Ammunition Division expanding its presence in the US commercial market. Recently, the division received over 40 million US Dollars new orders from US distributors operating in the commercial market and providing small caliber ammunition for sports, hunting and shooting ranges.

The IMI Small Caliber Ammunition Division is continuing to realize its long range objective of exporting at least one-third of total production capacity to commercial markets. In the framework of executing this strategy, the division has already secured a significant level of customers’ POs for export in the current year 2016, reinforcing its standing in international small caliber ammunition markets in general and in the US commercial market in particular.

The supply agreement recently signed between the IMI systems Small Caliber Ammunition and its Distributors in the USA will bring a variety of IMI products to the US market, including several premium rounds such as 5.56mm RAZORCORE 69 Gr. & 77 Gr. and 9mm DiCut (HP), in addition to its standard 5.56mm & 7.62mm core products. The division products meet a wide range of military standards including Mil-Spec and NATO.

IMI Systems’ Vice President and division Managing Director Mr. Israel Shmilovitz noted that the company’s success in the commercial international market, and the recognition of the ammunition’s performance and quality are a result of the Division’s ability to address and meet the IDF and the Israeli Special Forces’ requirements” Working together with the Special Forces and the IDF branches provides the Small Caliber Ammunition Division a significant advantage over the global competition.”

The Division finds the recent cooperation with US distributors an important and strategic asset for expanding its operations during 2017 and which is a substantial element in strengthening the relationship and mutual commitment between the Division and the distributors.

The Small Caliber Ammunition Division of IMI Systems is one of the world’s leading manufacturers in the industry and is specializing in the development, manufacturing and marketing a wide range of ammunition’s type around the world, from 5.56 mm to 12.7 mm (0.5″) caliber.

In addition to the regular ammunition’s types, the Division produces special types of munitions such as the armor piercing, sniper ammo, subsonic ammo and ammunition for training.

Recognized by the Ministry of Defense as the exclusive supplier of the IDF the division’s, the 9 mm and 5.56 mm NATO cartridges have also been approved and certified by NATO.

Its ability to rapidly and qualitatively meet the Special Forces’ operational requirements bestow the Division’s products with a “premium” class reputation among its customers, which include inter alia the US Army, NATO nations, law enforcement units and special units around the world.

Recently, IMI Systems has expanded its orders’ backlog for the US Army which has selected the IMI system’s “Hetz Dorban” Active Protection System as a major component in the US Army’s MAPS (Modular Active Protection System) flagship program.

This is in addition to the $5.7 Million dollar contract to deliver the US Army with decoy flares for its Special Forces aircraft a few months ago and after winning a US Marines Corps’ tender, in cooperation with the American company Raytheon, for the development and production of an accurate mortar shell in a $98 Million deal.
