Stefanini, one of the most important global providers of business solutions technology, plans to create a joint venture in Brazil with one of the largest Israeli defense companies, Rafael. The JV new teaming will offer a set of solutions to fight cybercrime and terror as well as advanced intelligence solutions. The official announcement was made during the LAAD Security fair, held from 12 to 14 April at Riocentro, in Rio de Janeiro.

Rafael Advanced Defense Systems is the developer of ground-breaking systems such as Iron Dome, and responsible for one of the largest cyber security projects in Israel and already operating projects related to the Defense area in Brazil.

Mr. Carlos Alberto Costa, to be appointed as JV’s CEO, said that in addition to providing security of technology infrastructure and information, the JV solutions will focus on the security of industrial automation, especially now that the Internet of Things (IoT) has been highlighted by international consulting firms as one of the major technological trends for 2016, creating the necessity for new security architectures to identify, respond, block, and counterattack intrusion attempts against corporate systems.

According to Gartner, there will be more than 4.9 billion things connected to the Internet this year, representing a 30% increase compared to 2014. For the next five years, this figure will reach 25 billion. In this scenario, security will have a strategic role and, according to the consulting firm, more than 20% of the companies will have digital security services to protect their projects on the Internet of Things by 2017.

In addition to cyber security solutions, this JV will bring to Brazil advanced intelligence solutions to deal with the challenge of exploiting enormous amounts of data. This date exploitation will contribute to police investigations, adding intelligence to the investigative process, including with the possibility of automating some tasks and using big data for detailed analysis of any evidence collected; advanced systems of digital image monitoring, which can be used in various sectors: in agribusiness, forestry monitoring; dams control, pipelines, electricity and other transmission lines, for municipal purposes and more.

The overall transaction is still subject to the prior approval of authorities in Brazil and Israel.
