Don’t think for a moment that terror organizations aren’t following the technological advancements and thinking how to use them in their favor. A familiar and recent example is ISIS’ latest use of social media for recruitment and propaganda.

Unmanned aerial vehicles offer terrorists many advantages for attacks. For example they allow to attack an extensive area in order to cause maximal amount of damages and civilian casualties, they allow hiding the operator’s identity, they offer flexibility in choosing the attack site, precision with inexpensive technology (as opposed to ballistic missiles or manned aircrafts), defense solutions against them are steal weak and underdeveloped and, finally, there’s nothing like the psychological affect that a UAV terror attack offers, in terms of scaring the citizens and in turn cause massive pressure on politicians.

The Hyderabad police force in India is well aware of the that exist of terror attacks via unmanned aerial vehicles and so it has banned all use of UAVs without prior permission in view of the intelligence alerts about their possible use for terror attacks.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner M. Mahender Reddy on Monday issued the order that no non-government agency, organization or individual will be allowed to launch Unmanned Aerial Vehicle or Unmanned Aerial Survey (UAS). The order stated that for one month no flying activities of remotely controlled drones or para-gliders or remotely-controlled micro-light aircraft will be allowed without prior police permission in writing for any purpose at all.

Remote controlled UAVs are used often in music concerts, different television awards and other such events, in order to get aerial footage for the TV live broadcast. We can all tell the obvious danger of a hostile vehicle hovering around the country’s sky alongside commercial vehicles, and how difficult it would be to tell them apart. Different solutions have already been offered on the matters, in order to allow for everyday life to go one – an interesting example of one is the UAV license plate. These solutions, however, still have many breaches and the work must go on.
