Taiwan’s Unmanned Aerial Vehicles’ industry is currently having a large exhibition presenting the best products of both the UAV industry, with eighty-nine different kinds of UAVs, as well as the local military industry, with its advanced weapons, rockets, missiles and more. Among these aerial platform is the local UAV recently developed by National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology’s Aeronautical Systems Research Division. The institute is Taiwan’s main weapons research and development unit. Ma Wan-Jun, head of the division, said that this was the very first time this new UAV was revealed to the public.

Despite it not being operational yet, Ma has agreed to reveal that this new UAV has autonomous take-off and landing, as well as MALE standard capabilities. The vehicle can even carry several different payloads on board. However, he refused to give out any information regarding the range of flight and its size, saying that these matters are still in trials. The new vehicle can perform missions both at day and night for intelligence, reconnaissance, enviromental research and patrol along the country’s shores.

The exhibition was meant to present the groundbreaking technology of the Taiwanese industry – not just in the UAV field, but all of the aerospace industry. Also presented was the sea-to-air missile – the Oryx Missile System, which is designed to be used by small and medium-sized ships, and a stealth maritime missile.
