9471974_sIs this good or bad for public safety? Many Russians took photos of the big meteor that  hit the ground in that country last week while driving their cars How was that possible?

Because almost everyone in Russia, has a dash-mounted video camera in their car.

What are the reasons? The relations between the police and tye citizens especially those who drive have made dash cams all but a requirement for motorists.

“You can get into your car without your pants on, but never get into a car without a dash cam,” Aleksei Dozorov, a motorists’ rights activist in Russia told Radio Free Europe last year.

So the Russian cars are equipped with dashboard cameras and these can be used according to experts to help the authorities to monitor “security issues”.

The question is whether drivers in other countries will install such cameras that take another layer of privacy from them.

Cellphones, GPS systems and now dashboard cameras. We are engulfing ourselves with sensors and emitters. Nowhere to hide.
