The disturbances in recent days in several locations throughout Jerusalem are explained by some as a reaction of sorts to the death of a 16 year-old Palestinian youth who was seriously injured in last week’s clashes in Wadi Joz.

But this is hardly what they make it out to be. East Jerusalem has become the scene of one continuous riot, complete with damages to property and injuries. If you won’t call a spade a spade – and in this case, Intifada, uprising – then you are preventing proper action against

this situation, which has already claimed numerous damages to property as well as multiple injuries.

The police seem helpless. Well, when you regard the events as haphazard clashes rather than as a planned and coordinated occurrence, your response is obviously lacking too.

This week, US President Obama is going to unveil his strategy for dealing with ISIS, and will announce he is planning to “hunt down” the terrorists regardless of their location. Oh, wonderful. Someone is finally awake at the Whitehouse.

In his speech, scheduled for tomorrow, Obama will attempt to garner the support of the American People in a widespread assault against the Islamist extremists. “I would first like to ask the American People to

understand that this is a serious threat, and second, that we have the capability to deal with this threat,” President Obama said in an interview to NBC ahead of his planned speech. Is there anyone who does not understand this, given the horrors?

In the meantime, it was published the ISIS jihadists are using US-made weapons and military supplies, that the Saudis have originally supplied to the moderate Syrian rebels. A study that was recently published cites weapons systems captured by Kurdish forces in Iraq and Syria from ISIS fighters in the course of 10 days last July.

Washington cannot read maps, not even raised-relief maps complete with glitter. There is probably not one person there who truly understands what is going on in the Middle East.

Israeli Police Chief Commissioner Yohanan Danino said yesterday the police intends to act severely against any expression of support for ISIS in Israel. This follows Minister of Defense Yaalon’s announcement designating ISIS as an illegal organization.

This too marks a mode of sleeping on the job. Having seen ISIS activist featured on Channel 10 as they wave their black flags on Temple Mount, it seems sleeping sickness has spread from Washington to Jerusalem.

Yesterday’s release of the transcripts of the recordings made at the office of Israel’s former chief of staff Ashkenazi is reason enough for a great deal of worry and shame. There may be nothing illegal there, but this is proof that the most senior HQs in Israel have been busy with gossip, smear campaigns and ‘settling of accounts’. This is a terrible fact. Echelons supposedly working on nothing but Israel’s defense have in fact been busy doing something else entirely. What was uncovered is merely the tip on the iceberg. Those who know what those recordings contain say they can make your hair stand. Some of the conversations took place during previous rounds of fighting against Hamas. Unbelievable.
