As we learn from experience, most of the trapped victims in the aftermath of earthquakes and other natural disasters are rescued by by-passers, rather than by professional teams. That is why supplying quality training to the public may help save lives during a disaster. A first-of-its-kind portable training installation was developed in Israel in order to enable quality training in the simple rescue of victims. The development is intended for the military and civilian markets in Israel and globally.

The portable installation, developed by SpotLight, the instruction department of QualiTest, is operated by teams designated to this task, who have a professional background in rescue operations, and enables to learn and train the rescue of trapped people under debris without using any electric or hydraulic equipment, but rather with common tools. The training session includes experiencing teamwork, cooperation and learning about values relating to social engagement and the value of human life.

According to the company’s announcement, the project took place within the framework of a bid for 10th grade high-school students and Primer Self-Help teams, declared by the Ministry of Education and the Home Front Command. QualiTest has won the bid for the instruction of 10th grade high school students in Jerusalem and central Israel in the fields of fire fighting, handling dangerous materials and earthquakes. It has been part of the national preparedness to disasters and emergency. During the instruction, the students will receive theoretical lessons and watch instruction videos and exercises simulating rescue missions.

SpotFight, which specializes in training, embedding and technical documentation solutions, will instruct according to the bid terms dozens of thousands  of 10th grade pupils, government offices and special installations, and will supply theoretical instruction to emergency officials in all vital infrastructures. The company will also train local authorities’ volunteers in first aid, firefighting and simple rescue operations.
