Unmanned aerial systems operate more and more mapping missions, and the technology in this field has been advancing rapidly. A new UAS will be developed through the collaboration of two firms. Black Swift Technologies (BST) and Leptron Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) have announced a strategic alliance that will combine their respective strengths. Leptron UAS’s manufacturing capabilities will be paired with Black Swift Technologies abilities to develop advanced avionics and flight management systems.

Under the agreement, Leptron UAS will begin manufacturing the Black Swift S1 UAS integrated with Black Swift Technologies SwiftCore Flight Management System. The resulting aircraft will be marketed as the GeoSwift Mapper.

Both companies are active members of UAS Colorado, USA, a non-profit business league, committed to promoting and improving the aerospace industry in Colorado. This forum proved to be a key enabler to the dialog that facilitated this relationship.

According to geotechenv.com, the GeoSwift Mapper provides the ability to capture millions of data points in one flight. Its intuitive mission planning software is an integrated system for collecting data over geography that is topically diverse with confidence. There is no need to reserve manned aircraft or land-based vehicle, thus reducing equipment and pilot costs and scheduling delays.

The UAS can be programmed in minutes to calculate the area under review and then begin collecting the data for immediate analysis and decision making. The accuracy of flight data following Geotag locations significantly reduce errors.

It is a ready-to-fly turnkey flight system, which is hand launchable with automated landing functionality, with a rugged and resilient airframe, durable enough to withstand accidental groundings and inclement conditions.
