Stop the Bleed is a national awareness campaign and a call to action. Initiated by the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Stop the Bleed is intended to cultivate grassroots efforts that encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives. It was initiated in 2015 in response to increased gun violence and mass casualty events in the country, according to bleedingcontrol.org.
The DHS campaign comes due to the understanding that even if first responders are quick to react, a person can die from the sheer flow of his or her blood within 5 minutes, thus anyone needs to be prepared to give initial treatment since one can never know what kind of incident may happen near him.
As part of the campaign, Curaplex, the brand carried exclusively by Sarnova’s family of companies, is adding Stop the Bleed kits to their product portfolio. The kits were designed to provide their end user with immediate access to products intended to stop traumatic hemorrhaging. According to ems1.com, these kits contain basic products for emergency responders or civilians to address a traumatic bleeding situation. These kits are all vacuum‐packed and tamper-proof for easy storage and opening.
“As we develop solutions to help further assist the men and women of emergency medical and public service professions, we also realize there is a large need to provide these same products to the public,” said Emilee Heifferon, Curaplex Kitting Product Manager. “Not only do our customers use these products in emergency scenarios, but there is an increasing need coming from the communities they serve.”
In the changing healthcare economy, Curaplex provides a comprehensive portfolio of products to meet the vast range of needs for emergency medical service professionals, acute care providers, and their patients.
