Indigenous Manufacture of Quadcopters and other UAVs

Poland has been considered a large potential market for the Israeli UAVs until recently. However, it seems that now Poland has moved to manufacture its UAVs locally.

Last month, the Polish Armament Group (PGZ) showcased its UAV systems, including tactical E-310 UAV, MJ-7 Szogun target drone and Atrax M quadcopter.

The systems presented on the ground and in the air were ready for delivery for the Polish army and foreign partners, said the company. Negotiations were said to be underway.

According to Defence24, the systems presented were jointly controlled with the use of a ground-based remote control station fitted onto a medium-weight vehicle.

MJ-7 Szogun target drone is being used within the process of training the operators of the anti-aircraft systems. It is a mid-wing monoplane with a V-tail, propelled by an internal combustion engine.  Szogun has a flight endurance of one hour, with cruise speed defined as up to 250 kilometres per hour. It can carry up to 6 kilograms of payload which may be used to change the radar signature of the UAV, simulate a specific IR-signature or to imitate the behaviour of a specific electronic warfare suite.

E-310 system is being launched from a towed launcher. The towing vehicle acts as the ground control station at the same time. The system is highly mobile and autonomous. It may become operable within several minutes. It offers flight endurance of up to 15 hours, within a radius of 150 kilometres from the ground control station, at altitudes of up to 5 kilometres.

Atrax M multi-copter is capable of attaining flight endurance of 60 or 30 minutes (respectively for the reconnaissance and combat variants). Atrax M platform, with own weight of 4.9 kilograms, has a take-off weight defined as 7 kilograms. This makes it possible to develop a VTOL UAV capable of carrying out strike sorties.

Attack-reconnaissance Atrax M UAV features combat pods which house up to 4 shaped charges or grenades. A wide variety of armament is being offered too. Total weight of the ordnance carried by the UAV may reach up to 2 kilograms.
