Israel’s Elbit Systems, the developer of the ‘C-Music’ protection system against shoulder launched missiles, is now exploring new markets for its proven product.  While it is estimated that the world’s airlines will not purchase and equip their civilian airplanes with Elbit ‘C-MUSIC’ type systems, it is estimated that the Elbit systems will be acquired for the protect ion of VIP aircraft as well as military flying-tankers and re-fueling  planes.

The Elbit ‘C-Music’ system can detect the launch of a missile at an aircraft at takeoff or landing and is designed to disrupt the missiles flight towards a source of heat, the aircrafts’ engine.  The system is scheduled to be installed on a number of Israeli aircraft although foreign airlines companies are not expected to acquire the system at this time.

Some potential customers have already been in contact with Elbit Systems. These customers have expressed their interest to acquire and install the ‘C-Music’ system on the private aircraft of businessmen, aircraft used to transport VIP passengers, as well as for military applications like tankers.

Elbit Systems executives believe there are specialized markets for which its C-Music systems can be applied considering that it offers several versions for application to different sizes of aircraft.  They are basing this belief on expectations that once the installations on Israeli airlines planes has been completed interest in its aircraft protection systems will grow worldwide.
