8195225704_a1b49d3c81_mThe recent Israeli military operation “Pillar of Defense” and the understanding  that the home front will suffer the most in any modern war, has  brought about the development of new apps with the main goal  to assist the civilian population during emergencies.

One such application is “the next war” app available for Smartphones. The application works according to GPS coordinates, and once opened gives the user a map which includes the closest shelters to its location, together with directions of how to get there. The app is currently available in many cities in Israel such as, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Rishon le Zion, and more.

Yuval Tessone, the CEO of Zebrapps, which developed the application together with the Israpps Company, explained the process of its development, especially the support received from the municipalities and local authorities who supplied it with maps of shelters.  Mr. Tessone added, “all app users are invited to update us in real time on the location of a nearby shelter, so we can immediately update the shelter’s location on the map.”

zebrappsMapAccording to Tessone the company witnessed a rise in user downloads two weeks ago when there was a period of tension in the north of Israel. He explains, “the application is designed to assist civilians during emergencies. It not only offers directions to the nearest shelter, but a built in flashlight as well as a radio which is set to GLZ radio station,  The goal of the app (i-Tunes “המלחמה הבאה”) is to offer the user constant updates on the situation, first aid instructions and protection guidelines – all designed to assist the home from to better cope in emergency situations.”
