IMG_9948Pro Jeep recently revealed the Karnaf – a unique quick vehicle designated for special operations.

From the outside, the Karnaf appears to be a regular army vehicle. Taking another look at its features, you realize it is incredibly fast. According to the company, it can reach a maximum speed of 160 kmh.

Baruch Ben Yehoshua, the company vice CEO, says that the Karnaf’s venter gap, 28 cm, enables high navigability, and the ability to climb surfaces with sharp angles, without using the forward wheel drive system.

He also says that the car was designed to drive up to 7 passengers, fully equipped.

Each client can choose his engine, but right now, the prototype of the Karnaf features an 8-cylinder engine by GM, with the capacity of 480-horse power.

The Karnaf weighs 2700 kg, and can carry 2.8 tons. Its chassis is built to provide the option for additional special armor plates, to protect its passengers.

Pro Jeep develops special vehicles for special missions. Having the IDF as its client can promote selling to other clients around the world, but despite the fact the IDF has already tested the vehicle, there was no announcement about the plan to purchase it.

According to the company, the Karnaf can be controlled remotely. This is done using a special control system to connect to the driver’s system in the vehicle.

An autonomous car can be highly efficient in high-risk areas, or in long patrol areas.

In the case of distant operation, the Karnaf can be installed with surveillance systems for day and night, and additional systems, according to the task. “If the vehicle approaches an area with anti-tank missiles, the team gets off, and from this moment on, everything is remotely operated,” says Ben Yehoshua.

He argues that the vehicle was introduced to the IDF but there is no decision for purchasing it. “The Karnaf is an advanced substitute to the Hummers and the Jeeps of the special IDF units”.
