U.S Homeland Security officials confirmed that they have stepped up security at federal buildings and enhanced security screenings at airports in the wake of last week’s terrorist attacks in Paris.

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson described the measures as “precautionary.”

“We have no specific, credible intelligence of an attack of the kind in Paris last week being planned by terrorist organizations in this country,” he said in a statement.

Johnson did not elaborate on the security measures, saying only that the Federal Protective Service would “enhance its presence and security at various U.S. Government buildings” in Washington and other cities around the country.

According to USA Today, the Transportation Security Administration began stepping up random searches of passengers and carry-on luggage last week, Johnson said. He said he’s reviewing whether more steps are necessary, especially since other countries have stepped up their screening of flights departing for the United States.

The security measures expand on those announced in October after a shooter at the Canadian Parliament building.
