Israel, the United States and Canada will conduct a joint aviation drill, the first of its kind, aimed at protecting civil aviation against aerial terror attacks.
Israel, the United States and Canada will conduct a joint aviation drill this summer, the first of its kind. The drill is aimed at enhancing cooperation between the three states and protecting civilian terror against aerial terror attacks. This according to a statement made by Israeli Transportation Minister Israel Katz.
Katz added that the drill was made possible after a strategic agreement was signed with the U.S. and Canada, the transportation ministries of the three countries declaring their intentions to cooperate on the matter of civil aviation security.
The minister said that the joint drill will facilitate better response procedures in case of aerial terror, in addition to strengthening security for the three countries. “The cooperation between Israel, the United States and Canada on the matter of aerial terror is of unique importance, facilitating efficient response procedures for civil aviation threat scenarios,” Katz added.

Three years ago Israel and the U.S. signed an agreement aimed at tightening cooperation on the prevention of aerial terror in civil aviation. The agreement included joint drills aimed at testing the responses of the sides in certain scenarios, eventually improving both countries’ security.
In early 2014 a similar agreement was signed between Israel and Canada, upgrading cooperation between the two countries and paving the way for the three-country drill.
