The Iranians are smart, resourceful and sophisticated. They know who they’re up against in Europe and the U.S. Right now they’re busy laughing at those naive enough to think they actually achieved anything.

The Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, said yesterday in a CNN interview that the Obama administration presented a wrong version of the interim agreement between Iran and the west. According to him Iran never agreed to dismantle anything.

“They’re trying to present it as a dismantling of Iran’s nuclear program. That’s the word they keep repeating,” said Zarif. “If you look through the final agreement and find something that even resembles the word I’ll take it all back”, added Zarif, smiling. He had a good reason to smile, too.

While the White House stated that Iran, in accordance with the agreement, will dismantle the infrastructure necessary to enrich uranium beyond 5%, Zarif explained that “We’re not dismantling any centrifuges or equipment. We just won’t enrich uranium beyond 5%.”

As I said before, the Iranians keep laughing behind everyone’s back. They never stopped developing their military nuclear program, never even considered stopping it, actually. They managed to fool the naive world with a few well-timed smiles.

Same as the Syrian case. The world rejoiced as the Syrian chemical weapons arsenal was “destroyed”, while any intelligence expert would tell you that it was just for show. Syria sacrificed a few containers and facilities for some good PR, that’s all. Early this week, for example, Assad’s forces used chemical weapons once again.

So the international community basically declared that it likes to be lied to, it likes fake smiles and empty promises. The problem, however, still exists. Israel will have to face a nuclear Iran in addition to Syria and its huge chemical weapons arsenal. Nothing has changed.
