Electro-Magnetic Pulse – an increasing danger

3363433_sIslamic terror organizations supported by Iran, the same ones who keep planning massive terror attacks, are once again considering a type of attack that could paralyze infrastructure systems across an entire nation.

It seems like all efforts go towards stopping the Iranian nuclear program – Israeli efforts, since the world has come to terms with Tehran having nuclear weapons. However, the Iranian-supported organizations, who consider the U.S. and Israel enemies to be destroyed, also present other threats.

While the world is doing nothing, and not just against the Iranian nuclear threat, there is another threat that is generally ignored. In the past it looked like Israel and other countries started to prepare for the threat, but in the current chaos it seems to have been neglected.

The following scenario was formed by American intelligence experts – according to them the threat is more serious than ever. A cargo ship, according to the scenario, might enter a port in the U.S., Europe or Israel. One of its holds opens, and a short-range missile is launched. The missile is tipped with a relatively small nuclear warhead, that will go off at the highest point in the missile’s trajectory. The result: a total shutdown of a country’s electronic, communications and control systems. The effect will cover many American states simultaneously, or an entire nation in the case of countries smaller than the U.S.

The American intelligence community has been looking into reports regarding such an attack for over a year. Iran, according to these reports, might attempt it against the U.S. The American IC has warned against an EMP attack in the past – as an Iranian response to American attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

According to American media reports a nuclear-tipped missile can be launched against the U.S. from a simple cargo ship carrying a launcher. A ship like that, according to experts, might fly the flag of a friendly or neutral country, and the U.S. will have no one to retaliate against.

According to the experts an EMP attack will disable electrical and communications systems across the state, causing damage estimated at $800 billion. The U.S. follows these Iranian plans closely, especially as they go together with Iran’s nuclear and long-range missile programs.

A nuclear explosion causes an effect similar to that of a huge electromagnet, which disables communications and electronics of all kinds across extreme ranges. Experts, for example, say that such a nuclear device detonating over Kansas will disable systems all across the United States.

A few countries threatened by EMP blasts began hardening systems against them, but most military and civilian systems are still vulnerable.

According to experts an EMP caused by a nuclear detonation above Israel will disable most systems across the state, and will badly cripple Israeli defense systems.
