The Elite as well as the regular units use special technological measures. Not always do they think about the great efforts and funds invested in developing these measures, aiming to prevent unnecessary risks and to contribute to the mission success, whether it is scanning a house with technological measures before the troopers enter it, or it is a hi-tech device installed on a vest, and protecting the soldiers.
In Israel and in all the Western armies, great money and thought are put in, to maximize the chances of mission success and to protect the lives of soldiers in the field. Homeland Security Today reports that in the US, for example, the best minds of a wide spectrum were put together. Military experts, academics, and civil industry professionals were grouped together to create a team to be at the technological forefront and develop combat supporting products in the center for development, research and engineering of electronic communication. Among the products of this center, we see the quick glide cable which assists the elite squad to reach its destination without revealing itself, radars and other SIGINT products.
Lately, the US army decided to renew activity in the center and replace the building which has been valid since before World War II with a modern, innovative complex, to save the taxpayer plenty of funds. The new complex stands on a huge area at the same army base in New Jersey that it is today, and include two types of hangars for choppers and planes. Also, the electrical power of the complex will be based on geothermal energy, which devices from the high temperature at the earth core. This shall save about 150,000 US dollars per year, and decrease the electricity consumption by 44%.
