Want To Build An App For IoT?

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a groundbreaking and innovative field in today’s technological world. As technology advances and our lives become more Hi-Tec, exciting new possibilities are being created, and some of the credit is, of course, due to the internet.

Amazon has also decided to take a step forward in the IoT and launched its own service to help costumers build apps designed to connect devices to the cloud. This new service is called AWS IoT, and according to the company, it will connect devices from the auto field, the healthcare system, house appliances and others to the cloud. The connection to the cloud will be fast and lightweight, making it a good fit for devices that have limited memory, processing power, or battery life, Amazon said.

Future users will be happy to hear that Amazon had announced that this new service will not have a basic price, but rather the costumers will pay according to use. Even more important, Werner Vogels, Amazon’s Chief Technology Officer, announced that the beta version of the service is already available.

Technology firms including Google Inc, Intel Corp, Cisco Systems Inc, Samsung Electronics and telecoms majors such as Vodafone and Verizon are betting heavily on the relatively new technology to drive revenue and profit in the future, and not without a reason. Research firm International Data Corp has estimated that the global IoT market will nearly triple to $1.7 trillion by 2020.

It is safe to say that Amazon is catching up with the large players as well as the small start-up companies, all offering cloud services and who has been working with it for years. Many of these smaller players might find themselves out of the race should Amazon decide to dive in the IoT field.
