In complicated combat scenarios especially in urban areas the infantry warrior often finds himself in a situation awareness conditions in a battlefield when he needs to quickly decide whether or not should he perform a shooting toward a target that may be friend or foe and take immediate action.

The Sentinel systems, developed by Zohar Dvir Enterprises uses RF communication technology at microwave frequency and top-level sophisticated antenna design with embedded signal processing and data security methodology to provide infantry warrior with life-saving decision support system in harsh combat situation.

The IFF system comprises of two parts: an interrogator integrated on weapon sight, and an IFF responder attached to a soldier’s helmet.

According to company owner and CEO, Zohar Dvir, in the current configuration, the link between the interrogator and responder uses microwaves transmissions at about 77 GHz. At this frequency, electromagnetic waves are greatly attenuated in the air, thus prevents or greatly reduces the enemy’s options for tampering with the IFF system. Also, the interrogator uses a narrow, directional beam antenna aligned with the weapon sight, to interrogate the soldier the weapon points at. The IFF responder uses an omnidirectional antenna to receive and respond in any and all directions. In the final configuration the system will meet the size, weight, power, functionality and environmental requirements needed to provide the design which fits the infantry soldier.

The system includes means for:

▪ Decision Support System for Infantry Warrior.

▪ Preventing Friendly Fire in Combat Situation.

▪ Unauthorized Use Prevention.

▪ Communication with Tactical C4I Systems.

▪ Single Warrior Layout.

▪ On-the-Weapon Bearable Gear.

▪ Small Weight and Dimensions Factor.

▪ Successful R&D for Required Technologies.

▪ Relevant MIL-STD Compatible Design.

Zohar Dvir will be presenting the system in the Future Forces conference.
