Senator Schumer wondered how many other countries besides China, Russia, the United States and Iran have such capabilities.
“I think it was frightening to people the specter that it might’ve been North Korea that did this,” he said, adding that if North Korea is capable of a sophisticated attack then “anyone can do this.”
Social Security numbers and other information and documents of more than 47,000 current, former employees and Hollywood stars were stolen. There’s widespread speculation that North Korea may have conducted the attack in retribution for the upcoming Sony film called “The Interview” in which the leading characters are charged with assassinating North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. The government, however, has officially denied responsibility for the breach.
