An Australian company has recently unveiled a new form of high tech body armor for military and law enforcement training. The high tech body armor is intended to add a sense of realism to training simulations while protecting its wearers.

Developed by Chiron Global, the Chiron X-1 is a full body armored suit that provides protection to its wearer from blunt force trauma, thus allowing trainees and students to use realistically strong force in training exercises. The body suit is also modular, making it possible for the users to choose the degree of protection needed.

The body suit is currently in its pre-production prototype phase. The suit currently has two variations. The suit’s second iteration, the Chiron X-2, has sensors installed onto the suit to allow the user to know where slicing, stabbing, and blunt injuries occurred during combat training. The system is then capable of analyzing the data to show the operator where improvement is needed.

Chiron Global’s CEO, David Pysden, has mentioned that the suit has caught the attention of several different military services. “We have had interest from the Marines, the Army, the Special Forces and they’re our sort of end-users”.

Pysden has also mentioned that there has been a large amount of interest shown in an operational version of the body suit. He mentions that the company could make the suit out of a ballistic outer plate that provides protection. He further mentioned that the company could further customize the suit based on the force’s requirements.

The suit was originally intended to be developed for practitioners of weapon-based martial arts. However, after hearing from the military, the company’s vision has changed to provide training capabilities for military and law enforcement personnel.

“We put our first video up online and within 24 hours we had [Special Operations Command] contact us and say, ‘you’re the only company in the world that we’ve found that’s got a full combat suit of armor with tech in it and we’re very interested in what you’ve done,” the CEO said.
