A Chinese startup company has recently developed its newly upgraded underwater unmanned drone for consumer use. Youcan Robot has recently been at work developing their BW Space Pro model underwater drone. Upgraded from the crowdfunded original BW Space underwater drone, the newer model comes with several new features, including a 6X optical zoom lens.

Similar to the original model, the Pro is capable of operating in a maximum depth of 100 meters underwater. It relays video and receives commands from the operator via a tether that connect to a Wi-Fi repeater that floats on the surface. The operator can operate the UUV up to 500 meters away from the Wi-Fi repeater using a dual joystick LED screen. The UUV can also be operated via smartphone or tablet.

The Pro model comes smaller than the original, yet it also features an additional vertical thruster, giving the newer model four thrusters, two vertical and two horizontal. This allows the drone to ascend or descend straight up or down and to travel forward with the nose angled up. These maneuvers increase the capturing potential of the UUV.

Newatlas.com reports that the BW Space Pro can go for about four hours on a single battery charge.

Its stabilized camera is capable of recording at 4K and 30 frames per second, it is also capable of 6X optical zoom.
