04 BsAshot Ashkelon, together with the Italian companies Efesto and C.F.M. Air have developed a new hybrid propulsion system (HPS). aviation safety .

The system was designed for several aviation uses, foremost civilian light -commercial aviation, UAVs, and others, enabling additional 6 flight  minutes to prepare for an emergency landing.

The system was designed by Ashot Ashkelon, a subsidiary of Israel military industries  (IMI) which specializes in developing and manufacturing components for aviation and defence and the Italian company Efesto, which specializes in developing and manufacturing electronic controls, and the company CFM Air, which specializes in developing and manufacturing light planes.

The HPS is designed, at first stage, to come with an adaptor kit for ROTAX 914, 912 engines Significant additional power as a result of an extra (electric) motor for both takeoff and climbing rate.

According to the Israeli company the new HPS is a significant safety element in case of ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) failure by providing extra flight time using the electric motor, also as a replacement for the Safety Parachute.

Another benefit Ashot says is a Thrust reversal mode for propellers using the electric motor, which makes it possible to stop quickly in order to shorten landing path and extend the lifespan of the brakes.
