Fast Draw – Iran’s Atom Bombs

Soon rust will start eating away at the first Iranian nuclear bombs, while smiling, well-dressed officials in Vienna still talk about a “nuclear agreement.”

The world has been a huge circus for a while now, but it was never as apparent as in these talks in Vienna, and especially their new round that begins today. The circus show that was the peace talks with the Palestinians is dwarfed by the Vienna masterpiece.

Representatives from advanced, western states sit comfortably alongside their Iranian counterparts, and all they do is smile at each other. Every few days there’s news of “cautious optimism”, “worry” or perhaps “good atmosphere,” and then the show goes on.

Meanwhile Iran’s race towards the bomb continues at full force. Several Israeli experts are trying to tell us that we can relax, because Iran will develop Israeli-level military capabilities only ten years from now. Other, more connected experts, however, know that it will be much sooner. It doesn’t matter. Iran will have its bomb because the world is weak. The world doesn’t realize it’s everybody’s problem exactly as much as it is Israel’s.

So the officials in Vienna continue with their little meetings even though I’m not really sure what they’re talking about, while Iranian scientists in underground facilities continue developing nuclear technologies with significant foreign aid.

The race, or at least its last part, can be stopped by taking some drastic measures, but there’s no one to actually take them. Putin doesn’t care, and he’s the only leader worthy of the title right now. The rest are just marionettes.
