Egozi’s Fury

egozi's fury featureNo other sentence ever got so many variations. “The U.S. won’t allow Iran to have nuclear weapons,” this according to U.S. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel during his recent visit to Israel. Several others have said the same thing before, including, among others, President Obama. They all said it, but no one meant anything by it. These are just empty words. The Iranians understood them very well and kept going ahead with their nuclear program. I wonder how many more variations on the same words we are going to hear, I’m sure there’s a few we still haven’t.

Words come cheap. Israel’s Internal Security Minister said last week that there was a dramatic development in the investigation of Shelly Daddon’s murder in Migdal HaEmek. This caused an uproar, since he hinted that the motive was nationalistic. But words come cheap, and even the Internal Security Minister couldn’t help himself, obsessively stating this again and again whenever a microphone was present, even though there was no actual proof.

Daddon’s family was deeply hurt, Arab community leaders were enraged at the allegations. All in all, in Israel you better say nothing if have have nothing to say.

Germany decided not to give Israel a significant price reduction for a few fast missile boats for securing natural gas drilling rigs in the Mediterranean. Israeli and German officials stated that the decision was made due to the discontinued peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians.

A few annoyances pop up here. Why even ask Germany for a price reduction? There are other countries, like South Korea, willing to manufacture high quality ships for less. Another question is why can’t the gas companies come up with the difference between the full and reduced prices?

iHLS – Israel Homeland Security

And the most aggravating of all – Germany blames Israel for the failure of what was jokingly referred to as the peace talks with the Palestinians. I expected more from them. There were no talks, so there was no failure. There will never be peace with the Palestinians because Israel wants to live. If that’s the reason not to grant reduced prices, we’ve got a very serious problem.

It looks like the IDF will soon have to run its units by publishing status updates on Facebook. This will make Zuckerberg very happy, having an army that runs its affairs using his social network. The soldiers who protested against using soldiers to evacuate settlers should get a prison sentence. It doesn’t matter if they’re right or wrong, an army has to have discipline. The IDF of today has no discipline, although so far these protests have been the worst of it.

If you had any doubts about the U.N. being useless, you only have to read a new internal report published over the weekend.

The report shows how U.N. peacekeepers routinely avoid using force to protect civilians. Out of 507 incidents involving civilians reported by the U.N between 2010 and 2013, peacekeepers responded immediately in only 101 cases.

I mention this every few weeks: The U.N. is a waste of money, used by rulers to give their lackeys some nice positions.

The home front drill was canceled due to constant conflict between two ministries – defense and treasury.

The facts are right there – the defense establishment has enough funds to conducts ten of these drills, but some people prefer advancing their own interests rather than admit it. The Israeli home front has been neglected for years. The home front minister finally realized that he held an empty title and resigned, but the situation remained the same. The home front is is not ready for a volley of ten missiles, never mind a probable scenario involving hundreds of missiles and rockets. So in the day after the two government offices will blame each other. And all the while our Prime Minister keeps himself busy with intrigue involving the upcoming presidential elections, and how to keep his opponents out of office. We can feel safe, our country is in good hands.
