Egozi’s Fury

Egozi’s Fury

egozi's fury featureMatrin Indyk, U.S. special envoy to the Middle East, commented on the recent crisis between Israel and the Palestinians. He blamed Israel, saying that “wild” settlement activity damages not only the Palestinian trust in Israel, but Israel’s very future as a Jewish state.

You don’t say? After all, you know the facts. The so-called “peace talks” were a failure before they even began, they would have still failed even if Israel had evacuated the city of Ariel. The Palestinians don’t want us here, and that’s why this blame game is pure nonsense.

You would expect an experienced diplomat such as Indyk to a little more familiar with current events. But when Washington itself fails to realize what’s happening in Iran, Syria and Ukraine, why would it understand the events in Israel? A global power with advanced intelligence gathering capabilities acts as if it’s been blindfolded for years now. Strange and depressing.

The war of words between the defense and treasury ministers concerning the defense budget is nothing but a bad joke. The Defense Minister claims that the budget will harm the IDF’s readiness. pure nonsense. Everyone knows that there are hidden clauses in the current budget, granting the IDF whatever it needs.

This ridiculous infighting begins again each time a new defense budget is about to be approved. People who are supposed to be professionals are dragged into pathetic exchanges. So, disregarding the fact that there are plenty of ways for the IDF to save money, the current defense budget is clearly more than enough.

Why do they keep treating us as if we’re stupid? We can see the immense waste in the IDF very, very clearly. There are always huge, “black” clauses in the budget and everyone is familiar with them. So why all the nonsense about a low budget that disrupts the army’s training schedule? A childish scare campaign that achieves nothing other than making our enemies happy.

Almost on the same issue, if the defense budget doesn’t allow for army drills, including the home front command drill next month, how does that fit with the massive expenditure on Prime Minister Netanyahu’s flight to Japan? He’s not going alone, either, his wife and two sons are set to accompany him during the visit, which in total costs more than one million dollars.

The same amount of money can fund plenty of military drills. Somebody in our country lost their mind. No money for training, claims the Defense Minister. No money for holocaust survivors. Plenty of money for the Prime Minister’s visit to Japan, his family at his side.

iHLS – Israel Homeland Security

If relations with Japan are so important the Prime Minister should go alone. If he’s going on an official visit he doesn’t need to have his entire family come along, but he always drags his wife with him – now also joined by his sons. Simply shameful.

Israel, or, more correctly, Prime Minister Netanyahu, keeps saying that Iran must not be allowed to have nuclear weapons. Too late for these statements now. The world, blinded by the smiles of Iran’s new leadership, already came to terms with the fact that Iran will have an atom bomb of its own.

So all of these implied or overt threats by Netanyahu are seen as meaningless posturing. In the recent conciliatory atmosphere that formed around Iran Israel would never attack the Islamic republic, and it probably wouldn’t have attacked anyway. Iran will have nuclear weapons, we all have to get used to the fact.

After the Knesset’s spring recess ends next week some Knesset members are expected to renew their campaigns against the release of terrorists in diplomatic deals. Two law proposals will be presented to the Ministerial Legislation Committee on Sunday, aimed at making it difficult to release prisoners with Israeli citizenship.

Do our leaders need laws to prevent them from carrying out illogical activities? Who needs laws that prevent the release of terrorists with blood on their hands? Only Israel; only countries that lose every shred of national dignity need these kinds of laws.

The Knesset members responsible for the law proposals have realized that without them scenes where murderous terrorists are released will repeat themselves over and over. These terrorists, whether Israeli or others, should rot in jail for the rest of their lives. The death penalty could help with overcrowded prison cells, but we’re too scared as a country to actually attempt something like that.

Some elements of the U.S. government hate Israel so much that they drive themselves crazy. Even when you concoct a story about Israel spying on the U.S. you have to at least make it somewhat rational. According to the report an American security serviceman noticed an Israeli spy in an air vent, in the hotel where the U.S. vice president stayed in while visiting Israel 16 years ago.

Please. Give Israeli intelligence some credit. You really have to send spies into air vents to monitor someone? Israel has advanced technology, after all. But hatred towards us can cloud people’s judgment.

I find it strange that serious, respected American media organizations chose to publish these fictitious accounts without asking questions that any novice journalist would have asked.
