Egozi’s Fury – Soldiers Running And Bad Jokes

This post is also available in: heעברית (Hebrew)

The image of IDF soldiers holding their personal weapon, running and looking for cover while a terrorist attacks the central station in Be’er Sheva was difficult to watch. It can’t be that armed soldiers will run a situation like that. Something is off and it should be treated as soon as possible by the IDF as there is no doubt that soldiers will get into similar situations in the future.

Against that shameful run I should point out the extraordinary actions of IDF and Border Police fighters who responded quickly and terminated the terrorists.

The UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon arrived last week in Israel in what was called an emergency visit, in order to impose peace in the occupied territories. Oh please. This worthless organization actually thinks that anyone is listening to what it has to say? This unnecessary organization that is completely occupied with useless talking thinks that someone in it can influence anything at all in the world?

If so, then on top of being unnecessary it is also re-defying naivety. The UN has no influence whatsoever on any of the subjects that occupy the world today.

I repeat my offer: Turn the UN headquarters in New-York into a prestigious hotel and use the profits to give food to the hungry in Africa. At least that way this joke of an organization will have some use.

And on the same note: The US turned to the UN last week to sanction Iran, after it broke the agreements and tested long range ballistic missiles.

Did you hear that? Washington suddenly turned to the UN for help. That’s first class humor. That’s original humor.

Iran has understood that there is no one to stand against it. Tehran pays no heed to the US, or to the UN. When the US and Europe are flocking to Tehran to close huge business deals, these old sanctions are history and the new ones are a bad joke.

In the south of Israel Palestinians are still trying to storm the fence and take it apart while at same time, what’s known as a “drizzle” of rockets on settlements near the border continues. All this is getting reactions that would be fit for the Vatican Guard and not for a country with such massive military power.

The Air Force is still creating large holes in the sands of Gaza and sometimes several outlaws are shot approaching the fence. If the reactions continue to be so pathetic, it will end very badly for the Jewish residents of the area, but not only – as when there is a leak and you don’t call a plumber to stop it, the water breaks and then emergency action is needed to stop it.

And to finish: The Israeli security industries are facing a very hard time. The geo-political changes, an economic crisis in a many countries and lack of sympathy for Israel in numerous countries – all prevent new deals from signed, even those that seems “in the bag”.

In such a situation one would expect for government intervention. In the US and Europe, when it seems like the security export was being affected, heads of states joined for aggressive marketing campaigns.

In Israel, those sitting in the government chairs lack the will to even learn about the difficulties. They’re dealing with other matters with no great success. Let them try to help here – maybe this time it will work.

Only continuing Israel’s security export in the same extent as before could help security industries to develop the next generations of weapon systems. We are going to need them.
