The Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) is an independent academic institute that studies key issues relating to Israel’s national security and Middle East affairs. Through its mixture of researchers with backgrounds in academia, the military, government, and public policy, INSS is able to contribute to the public debate and governmental deliberation of leading strategic issues and offer policy analysis and recommendations to decision makers and public leaders, policy analysts, and theoreticians, both in Israel and abroad. As part of its mission, it is committed to encourage new ways of thinking and expand the traditional contours of establishment analysis.

The goal of the Military and Strategic Affairs program at the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) is to develop knowledge on: military and strategic thinking, force developments, ethical, and legal aspects of war and combat, force deployment and operations, military-civil relations and decision making processes, security/military technology and intelligence.

Cyber Warfare Program
The cyber warfare program at the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) aims to develop knowledge and expand the public debate while focusing on: the conceptualization and creation of a common language in the contexts of national security, the development and examination of national policy, and the identification of guidelines for a defense doctrine in the cyberspace, both at the national and the inter-organizational level in Israel. The Research aims to contribute to an informed public debate on cybernet security and promote sound public policy. In examining the cyberspace dimensions, the research will aim to identify unique features and highlight issues significant to Israel’s national security.
