IDF David’s Sling Formation was Subordinated to Fire Formation

A ceremony marking the subordination of David’s Sling formation to the Fire formation, including its units, regular and reserves, was held today, October 10. This organizational move is part of the IDF’s perennial program, known as Tnufa (momentum), which reflects two of the program’s major principles:

First, the enhancement of the operational end by increasing the independence and warfare capability of the IDF’s forefront units, and the other – the strengthening of enemy capabilities negation, as a major element in winning the war, according to IDF Spokesperson’s announcement.

It is over this background that the Chief of General Staff, Lt. Gen. Aviv Kochavi, confirmed the organizational shift of subordinating David’s Sling formation to the Fire formation. The move, which was part of the concept of enhancing the multi-dimensional maneuver, will optimally connect the operational standards of the Fire formation to the increased capability negation competence of David’s Sling formation.

It is another stage on the advancement of David’s Sling formation’s worthiness, which ever since its establishment in 1986 specializes in various offensive capabilities based on precise intelligence, according to the announcement.

The ceremony was attended by GOC Army Headquarter commander Brig. Gen.  Yoel Strik, Central Command commander Maj. Gen. Nadav Padan, Fire formation commander Maj. Gen. Yaron Finkelman,  Artillery Corps commander Brig. Gen. Aviram Sela, and David’s Sling commander, Col. T.
