China has been at work developing a drone that is very reminiscent of the superhero Spiderman. The drone is capable of firing a large net to knockdown and capture unmanned aircraft.

The Drone was designed and manufactured by the government-run China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation.

The drone shoots a 172 square feet net over any hostile or unwanted UAVs or drones. Once hit, the net will get entangled in the aircraft’s moving components and cause the aircraft to fall to the ground.

The net is launched from two cylinders that are placed under the drone and are attached to a camera.

Asides from drone catching, the drone can be sent out on surveillance and attack missions.

Chinese media claims that the drone is capable of automatically identifying and intercepting unauthorized drones.

Dailymail.co.uk mentions that the drone has gone through testing for at least a year and is capable of working with ground based radars and rocket launchers.

The net shooting drone offers a safer alternative of shooting down unwanted aircraft. Once the net hits a drone, it will immediately fall to the ground with little to no debris. Thus managing to safely and inexpensively intercept a drone without too much risk to the civilians on the ground below.
