Chinese robotics company Pudu Robotics has unveiled its first full-sized bipedal humanoid robot, the PUDU D9, marking an advancement in the field of robotics. Designed for practical applications, this humanoid combines impressive mobility, precision, and human-like interaction, all aimed at enhancing a variety of tasks across sectors.

Standing at 170 cm tall and weighing 65 kilograms, the PUDU D9 features a remarkable 352 Nm joint torque and 42 degrees of freedom, offering exceptional flexibility and range of motion. This advanced robot can walk at speeds of up to 2 m/s on flat surfaces and efficiently navigate stairs and slopes, thanks to its bipedal design. Its mobility is further enhanced by the PUDU DH11 dexterous hand, enabling the D9 to walk upright and perform dual-handed tasks with ease.

The D9’s advanced technology extends beyond mobility, with high-precision sensors that allow it to create 3D semantic maps in real-time. This feature ensures accurate self-positioning and autonomous route planning, making the robot adept at navigating complex environments like urban landscapes. The robot is also equipped with two 7-degree-of-freedom robotic arms capable of carrying payloads of up to 20 kg, enhancing its ability to perform delicate tasks with dexterity.

What truly sets the PUDU D9 apart is its ability to interact with humans. The robot is equipped with a range of sensors, including visual, tactile, force, and auditory sensors, enabling it to understand and respond to its environment. These capabilities, powered by sophisticated AI models, allow the D9 to engage in natural, human-like interactions, making it suitable for a wide array of service applications.

Pudu Robotics has long been a leader in service robotics, having already released the semi-humanoid PUDU D7 and the agile PUDU DH11 this year. The PUDU D9 is set to enter pre-sale soon, offering the next step in the evolution of humanoid robots designed to assist in complex tasks. With its cutting-edge features, the D9 is poised to revolutionize industries requiring advanced robotics with a human touch.
