Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) is increasing its operations in India, signing strategic collaboration agreements with leading local companies, for the manufacturing of a wide range of advanced strategic systems for the local security establishment, with accordance to the Make in India initiative led by India’s government.

Within the framework of air defense, IAI and the Indian governmental company BHARAT ELECTRONICS (BEL) signed an MOU regarding the cooperation and the establishment of a service and maintenance center for air defense systems around India. The center will supply maintenance and technical support to the Indian army’s air force, navy and ground arm. This collaboration is a continuation of an existing cooperation and is designed to supply long-term response to IAI’s air defense systems in India as well as additional systems that will become operational in the various forces in the future, according to the company’s announcement.

With regards to UAVs, IAI signed and MOU with India’s Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Dynamatic Technologies Limited (DTL). The MOU will reflect existing UAV capabilities developed by IAI over the years and promote the production of Indian UAVs, in line with the Indian Government’s “Make in India” policy.

The strategic partnership with the Indian corporations will allow the implementation of optimal solutions for the needs of the local customer based on their specific technologies and needs. IAI has also established, with local collaboration, an MRO dedicated to UAVs to provide the customers with high-availability responses and quick maintenance.

According to IAI Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Military Aircraft Group, Moshe Levy, “ India is an important strategic partner for UAVs and I’m confident the combination of IAI’s extensive experience and the technological capabilities of HAL and DTL will lead to significant advancements in the field.” Boaz Levy, IAI VP and director of the Systems, Missiles & Space Group, said: “This MOU constitutes a continuation of the collaboration with BEL. This collaboration will add to IAI’s ability to supply solutions to India’s air defense systems and provide a real-time, optimal response on site with our Indian partners and customers. This is a strategic collaboration for IAI and its customers, and we hope to increase it in the near future.”
