A national security solutions provider has recently demonstrated its newest mixed reality training system. Kratos Defense & Security Solutions has recently developed its new Reconfigurable Virtual Collective Training System (RVCTS). The system’s purpose is to put soldiers in a virtual training environment.

The company claims that the RVCTS satisfies the military’s demand for a cost-effective training platform that incorporates the newest technology in mixed reality. As part of the simulations, the systems incorporate sight, sound, haptic senses, and even smells into the training environment.

There are several variants of the RVCTS. For example the RVCTS-Air incorporates mixed reality technology in order to train aircrew. A demo version of the RVCTS-A has included training simulations for Black Hawk, Chinook, and Apache helicopters.

The company also develops advanced training solutions for American and allied forces. It has worked on developing training programs and military simulations for the military in the air, ground, and maritime domains, with Auganix.org mentioning that the company may develop simulations for the space domain as well.

The company has developed the RVCTS platform by combining commercial hardware and software products in the platform’s software to create a reconfigurable, immersive training environment in an open architecture framework.

“We have partnered with industry leaders to develop the most innovative and mission focused RVCTS currently available,” said the Senior Vice President of Kratos Training, Jose Diaz. “This innovative Kratos system is comprised of Bugeye Technologies’ high fidelity cockpit components, VSS’ “real cable” hoist product and AVT’s Combine Aircrew Mission Task Trainer simulation baseline.”
