Starting this summer, the Republic of Croatia will assist in maritime Coast Guard using a helicopter-resembling Unmanned Aerial System (UAS). Croatia will operate the CAMCOPTER S-100 UAS for maritime surveillance services. Some of these services will include search and rescue operations, ship and port security, traffic monitoring, environmental protection, disaster response, and more.

The European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) has awarded Schiebel a multi-year maritime surveillance contract back in 2018. In it, Schiebel will ship and operate its CAMCOPTER S-100 UAS to provide surveillance services to several European Union states.

Uasvision.com mentions that the UAS will be used to carry out regular patrolling flights, as well as incident monitoring flights and special inspections.

The CAMCOPTER S-100 is a helicopter resembling UAS. Equipped with electro optical and infrared sensors, as well as an Automatic Identification System, the UAS can operate in most scenarios.

“The CAMCOPTER S-100 is the perfect Vertical Takeoff and Landing UAS to perform these Coast Guard functions,” mentioned the chairman of Schiebel Group, Hans Georg Schiebel. “Backed by an impressive service record in the maritime domain, the S-100 has established itself as the best choice whenever sophisticated maritime surveillance is required.”
