New Patrol Vehicle for Urban Warfare and Convoy Escort Missions

A new patrol vehicle has been designed to be used in urban and semi-rural areas, supplying defense and situational awareness to troops. The UAE-based company Streit Group, an international manufacturer of combat and security vehicles has recently introduced a new security protected vehicle, the Python-SUT (Support Utility Vehicle).

The patrol and reconnaissance vehicle is based on a commercial chassis Toyota with steel capsule body design offering protection against ballistic threats. The Python-SUT vehicle can tackle the most challenging of terrains and transport the crew safely to their destination. It has the capacity and flexibility to operate from urban patrols to convoy escort duties or anything that is required.

According to armyrecognition.com, the vehicle can carry 10 people including driver and commander. It is designed to offer a new generation of a protected vehicle with cargo area at the rear. The engine is at the front, there are three seats at the front et three in the middle of the troops’ compartment. More people can be carried at the rear of the vehicle, or additional equipment.

The body of the vehicle is protected level CEN B6, offering protection against firing of small arms 7.62x51mm caliber ammunition.

To offer 360° situational awareness, the vehicle is fitted with a large windscreen at the front of the crew compartment, two small bulletproof windows on each side of the hull and one more additional window at the rear.

The Python-SUT can be motorized with 4.0L V6 Gas or 4.5 L V8 Turbo Diesel. The roof of the vehicle can be fitted with a one-man open top turret which can be armed with a machine up to 12.7mm caliber.
