The Pentagon Uses High Altitude Balloons for Security

The Pentagon has revealed a new plan with the DoD to direct more funding directed towards high-altitude balloons for tracking hypersonic missiles and more. This effort is the US’s push to neutralize China’s and Russia’s threats to its security.

According to tweaktown.com, the balloons can be trucks for any number of platforms, whether it be communication and datalink nodes, ISR (Intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance), tracking air and missile threats, or even various weapons – and without the predictable orbits of satellites.
