Smart Transportation in Israel – The Ministry of Transportation and the Innovation Authority recently announced their intention to conduct a study worth NIS 20 million, as early as next year, to examine how autonomous vehicles can be used in public transportation.

As a result of the Israeli government’s decision to promote the national plan for smart transportation, an initiative was born that will examine the integration of autonomous vehicles into the public transportation system of Israel, including an assessment of various models, both operationally and economically. It aims to attract national and international technology manufacturers to Israel and engage them in exploring and demonstrating ways to integrate their technology into the public transportation system.

The first phase, which will begin next year, will see experiments in autonomous vehicles being conducted in closed areas, such as Ayalon lanes and other defined areas. From 2024, the successful models from the first phase will operate experimental autonomous public transportation services and begin transporting passengers.

The technology is anticipated to stand the test of bus station identification and maneuvering on urban and interurban roadways, thus providing valuable information about existing roads and infrastructure, says calcalistech.com.

Israeli innovators continue to lead the way in technological innovation, and they also make a mark in the field of smart transportation.

iHLS is proud to present AUS&R 2022 – the Unmanned Systems, Robotics and Smart Transportaion Conference – the tenth annual event.
