Fast Draw – This Isn’’t An Intifada

This morning I have joined those claiming this is not an Intifada. They’ are right. It’’s a war when every day Jews are being murdered and wounded all across the country. It isn’’t an Intifada by any definition of war protecting the well-being of the citizens of Israel.

Do you know the phrase ““Everything is fair in war””? Our leaders may have heard it while learning history but they’’re failing to apply it in real life. It i’s enough to listen to the Prime Minister and his ministers to realize that they’’re are cruising along some virtual reality when it comes to what needs to be done in light of this wave of terror which is paralyzing whole sectors in the country.

What, for example, is keeping the breaches in the fence from being closed at the Mount Hebron area, through which thousands of illegal aliens are entering Israel every day? What is to prevent the terrorists’ houses from destroyed only hours after they’’ve killed and injured Israelis? What is preventing the occupied territories from being closed down in order to prevent or at least decrease the danger of terrorists entering the country? What is preventing a brigade from being stationed in Jerusalem to assist the Israeli police force, whose officers are already sick from being overworked? What is stopping the Northern branch of the Islamic movement from being outlawed? The answer to all of these questions is impotence, incompetence, a fear of what the world might say.

Israel is in war, when mothers are escorting their children to the schools carrying a large kitchen knife in the bags for protection; When markets are empty of clients; When worried parents stand next the gates of schools. This is a new situation. This fact hasn’t yet penetrated the safely guarded windows of the government offices dealing with it, especially the Prime Minister’s office in Jerusalem, where he is still dealing with the “military option” against Iran. How long can you exhaust this bad joke and think that every citizen in Israel is an idiot, buying into this nonsense? How long can you ignore the bloody reality that is staring us right in the face for the past couple of weeks?

The Palestinian incitement is record breaking. Facing such incitement there is no value in the security cooperation with the Palestinian authorities. Such incitement makes is a mere slogan. Such incitement must get Israel to take severe measure against the Palestinian authority, including the two-tongued Abu Mazen himself, who applauds every attack in such a sophisticated way that some of our leaders are blinded by it.

So we are in an all-out war and it is time that, as in war, someone will remove their backside from the chair and act so we can all go safely to the market, the cinema, the schools, without fearing that someone carrying a knife will stab us every second.
