Obama and His New Friend, Asimo

U.S. President Barack Obama, usually a basketball fan, tried a new sport over the weekend – during his visit to Tokyo he played soccer for a few minutes with the Japanese robot Asimo.

The humanoid robot Asimo talked to the president in English, demonstrated his ability to jump up and down and finally kicked a soccer ball towards Obama. The president told attendees that it’s very important for students all over the world to study math and sciences.

Asimo is a small robot made by Honda, 130 centimeters tall and weighing 54 kilogrems. It looks like a small astronaut carrying a backpack, and is capable of walking on two feet at a speed of up to 6 kilometers per hour.
