New Windows Phone safe-surfing application blocks hackers attempting to redirect traffic to fake websites or e-mail accounts

A new free app aims to protect smartphone users surfing the internet. It works on Microsoft’s mobile operating system and protects against phishing, a common threat on mobiles. Hackers using this method create fake websites and send false e-mails in order to fool users into revealing personal information.

The new app blocks potentially offensive content. It receives real time information on malicious websites, using an anti-phising database. The app also helps parents deal with offensive content reaching their children’s mobile devices.

The application was developed by Kasperky Lab. The company also manages the app’s associated anti-phising database.
