The increasing use of digital currencies has made it more difficult for authorities to trace and recover illicit assets. The report warns that as technology continues to evolve—especially with the rise of quantum computing and advanced tools like the metaverse and brain-computer interfaces—criminal networks will become even more sophisticated and harder to disrupt.
