Milestone Achieved in Military 5G Applications

Military forces’ need for increased connectivity has been laying the foundation for a shift to fifth-generation communication technology. The technology that is being used to advance commercial industries has various applications in the military field, e.g. in and between military bases.

5G-enabled “network of networks” established by Lockheed Martin integrates military and enterprise networks, and leverages existing telecommunication infrastructure technology.

Lockheed’s 5G.MIL solutions enable seamless, resilient and secure connectivity and data flow across all battlefield assets in order to deliver prompt and decisive action on the battlefield.

Lockheed has recently signed an agreement with Verizon to collaborate on 5G.MIL technologies. The relationship with Verizon also establishes a joint research and development lab framework to test 5G.MIL technologies.
