רוסיה פולשת לקריםLast year the world experienced a very big crisis that seemed to bring back the cold war to today’s reality. This sense of deja-vu was the result of a struggle between Russia and Ukraine on the Crimean Peninsula. It all began after Ukraine experienced an internal crisis which led to demonstrations and bordered on revolution and the full seperation of the Crimean Peninsula from the country. Russia, with Putin leading, saw this as a golden opportunity to annex the peninsula, most of its inhabitants being Russia’s supporters. The world fully objected to this and placed strict sanctions on the Russia. Russia, on her part, claimed that no fault can be found in her activities regarding Ukraine.

If it seems like the Russia-Ukraine crisis is over, then events recently give evidence that this is not the case. Since the crisis, Russia has repeatedly claimed that it is not involved in the fighting in Ukraine whatsoever, but as time passes, more and more evidence point to that statement being false. On May 20th this year the Ukraine military forces knocked down a “Forpost” UAV. This drone is the cutting edge of Russian technology, as it has the ability to operate day and night without difference or restrictions. Even though it carries no weapons for attack, it gives the military using it a full picture of the battlefield and can guide artillery towards enemy targets with ease.
