Tethered drones reduce technical and human error crashes in flight. Because of the flying restrictions the tether creates, and their greater control, their operation does not require a trained pilot. The tethered drone station acts as an anchor, that retains the aircraft in case of any emergency, thus reducing the flying perimeter to the tether length and reducing the potential fly away zone.

An advanced tethered drone station has been unveiled recently. The Safe-T 2 provides users with power efficiency and enables safe and persistent flight time for UAVs.

Safe-T 2 is the new generation for tethered drones station, developed by Elistair. The new station builds on the success of the flagship product line used by a range of governmental organizations, industrial groups and security forces for their intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) missions. Over 600 tethered stations have been deployed by the company to help security forces monitor events, secure sites and protect assets. 

With up to 2,2 kW max continuous power and 2,8 kW peak power, the new station allows for higher flights with heavier payloads, thus enabling security forces to cover larger areas with a single system.

The secure Dual-Comms option (Fiber optic and BPL), offers a redundant tethered data link, or the possibility to select which technology is best suited for the aircraft and/or payload, according to the company website. 

A patented brake system allows the user to adapt the maximal tether length, depending on the safety zone needed around the aircraft, for instance in urban or crowded environments. 

Like its predecessor, the Safe-T 2 integrates the company’s live flight management system with T-monitor mobile app offering optimal flight control for safer operations.

The rugged station is weather-resistant and has a compact modular metallic structure. It is equipped with mounting plates and optional software development kit (SDK) for seamless integration into vehicles and fixed structures whilst also being agile enough for a single operator to deploy.
