Statesmen, lawmakers, first responders and law enforcement agents from all over the world will discuss finding solutions for recent global security challenges, the rise in international crime, corruption, tax evasion, drug smuggling and forgery.

Interpol World will take place April 14-16, 2015, with 8,000 professionals and 250 organizations participating. According to Interpol during the event professional representatives from the public and private sectors will meet for the first time to discuss ways of making the world safer. The organization’s directors explained that thanks to technological advancements the world is now facing more and more complex criminal threats. True, globalization expanded trade and communications, but it also aided international organized crime – threatening the safety and security of citizens and damaging political and economic stability.

According to a World Economic Forum organized crime report, covering the years 2012 and 2013, the scope of criminal activities such as corruption and tax evasion was 1 trillion dollars, while smuggling of drugs and other products comprised 8% of global trade.

This created unprecedented business opportunities for security, HLS, safety and protection organizations, both private and public. According to Frost and Sullivan reports the security, defense and military markets in Asia, for example, will reach 180 billion dollars by 2020 – a significant rise compared to 150 billion in 2013.

Interpol World will provide an unprecedented opportunity for police, law enforcement, HLS, security and safety organizations to exchange innovative ideas and discuss future solutions, focusing on four main issues:

  • Cyber security
  • Safe city projects
  • Border security management
  • Supply chain security

Director of Interpol’s International Partnerships and Development Unit, Julia Wiedma, said that the event in Singapore signifies an international cooperative effort, “which is most important in light of the quick development of technologies and human movement across borders on the one hand, and the rising sophistication of global criminal organizations on the other.”

The event will take place in the Sands Convention Center in Singapore.
