Satellite-on-the-move (SOTM) systems can supply commanders and decision makers at the battlefield with enhanced situational awareness in real-time.

Elbit Systems’ SOTM systems from the ELSAT 2100 SOTM family of systems, allows high data rate broadband capabilities to be available to land vehicles on the move. The systems can be installed on a variety of platforms and are unique in their small footprint and its advanced tracking capabilities, providing seamless communication even in difficult terrain. This solution allows on-the-move data communication anywhere, anytime, based on utilizing various communication satellites.

The company has announced that it was awarded a contract to provide the Israeli Ministry of Defense (IMOD) with dozens of satellite-on-the-move (SOTM) systems. The contract is in an amount that is not material to Elbit Systems and will be performed over a two-year period.

According to the company’s website, the ELSAT-2100 advanced highly ruggedized antenna for land platforms delivers high performance in Ka, Ku and X bands, offering continuously connected voice, video and data communications while in motion.

The antenna is based on Elbit Systems’ unique planar array and is designed to be fully integrated with all types of broadband satellite communication systems.

The next generation antenna can be easily mounted on a variety of on-the-move platforms including wheeled and tracked vehicles, airborne and maritime vessels, and was designed to enable decision-makers, commanders and field units on the ground, air and sea to maximize C4 effectiveness and situational awareness in real-time and under the most demanding combat conditions.
