A unified security platform blends IP security systems within a single intuitive interface to simplify operations. The Security Center platform from the Canadian company Genetec supplies access control, video surveillance, automatic license plate recognition (ALPR) as well as communications, intrusion, and analytics, empowering organizations such as airports through enhanced situational awareness, unified command and control, and connectivity to the cloud.

The platform’s latest release, according to Genetec’s website, adds disaster recovery features, greater security with enhanced authentication and encryption, new hardware integrations, enhanced scalability and more.

Security Center 5.5 adds innovative capabilities to better help organizations monitor their sites, while offering administrators greater control and visibility of their security infrastructure.

Boise Airport in Idaho, USA has recently installed the new Security Center solution, which enables the airport to manage access control points, several cameras and video analytics software from within a single unified interface.

Boise Airport Operations and Security airport deputy director Sarah Demory said: “As we analysed our needs and evaluated various technologies, it quickly became clear that a unified / condensed security system was the direction we wanted to go. We learned that Genetec Security Center is installed in dozens of airports around the world to great acclaim, and we were impressed with the modern and intuitive interface of Security Center and its reputation for quality and stability.”

According to airport-technology.com, the platform has allowed Boise Airport to combine the efforts of its access control and video security teams, enabling them to work in collaboration.
